All Life Changes trustees are volunteers who give their time free-of-charge.


Polly is an experienced counsellor and supervisor and is Life Changes' Counselling Service Director She has many years experience as a counsellor, both in private practice and public service, as a supervisor and as coordinator for a number of counselling services.

Polly provides the management for Life Changes and oversees our rapidly increasing numbers of counsellors and supervisors as well as setting professional standards and procedures.

Polly has MA in Counselling from Reading University.


Philip Meakins is a recently retired GP . He was a partner at the Old Fire Station Surgery, Woolston, for more than 30 years. He had a special interest in care of the elderly, and mental health, having initially trained in Psychiatry. He was responsible for employing the first practice based counsellor in the Southampton area.


Jeremy has spent his working life in executive roles in Motor Engineering, Contract Hire and Coach Travel. He combined this with a great involvement in various neighbourhood and community organisations. These roles have included hands-on as fund-raiser and events organiser, committee roles as treasurer and secretary, and management committee roles in youth work and in a probation hostel.

After retirement and a house move he is now involved in voluntary work in charities involved mainly in sailing and the sea.

Jeremy is married to Polly, the Counselling Service Director of Life Changes.


Derek is the trustee with responsibility for Life Changes' financial accounts, and has the challenging job of making sure that the charity can match its financial resources to the growing demands placed on the service. Now retired, Derek's career was with Hampshire Constabulary, with particular focus on the welfare of officers and their families.


Fran is a retired qualified HR professional whose expertise is in employee relations. She is a qualified counsellor.


Patti has worked in a caring profession throughout her working life, with over 30 years’ experience as a counsellor and supervisor working in the voluntary sector, private practice, education and NHS.

She has a MSc in Counselling Supervision from Southampton University.

Melani Morgan - TRUSTEE

Melani served 30 years in Hampshire Constabulary, in the latter years specialising in Domestic abuse (DA), sexual offences, adult abuse investigation and safeguarding. Melani introduced a peer support and  counselling programme within Hampshire Constabulary using her counselling experience, and a counselling service for survivors following reporting of DA to the police. On “retirement” from the constabulary she joined SafeLives a national domestic abuse charity where her current role is development of training for frontline responders to domestic abuse.  Melani has written and is now rolling out a change programme for police responders nationally following the HMIC inspection of police forces in relation to domestic abuse.  Melani has been a trustee for Life Changes counselling service for 3 years.
