Do you have what it takes to be a trustee for a dynamic and rapidly-growing Community Counselling Charity?
Life Changes was established to meet the pressing need for access to counselling for people in need. It also provides supervised placements for experienced students from degree and diploma courses in counselling. It seeks to further an integrative approach to counselling by mixing counsellors from a variety of therapeutic modalities. The service has grown rapidly since it was founded in April 2004 and now has 20 plus counsellors and provides counselling for around 50 people per week
Life Changes is a registered charity, and would like to recruit a small number of additional trustees from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, orientation and life-experience. Trustees need not have experience of counselling, but should be able to support the charity during a period of exciting development. Trustees should be supportive of an integrative approach to counselling and the therapeutic benefits of talking therapies.
Trustees should have broad life-experience and be willing to use their abilities to further the work of Life Changes in a variety of ways such as funding, publicity and finance and should be willing to represent the charity, in developing partnerships with statutory, commercial and voluntary sector organisations.
The commitment required is to attend 6 Trustee meetings a year in Southampton. An ability to deal with correspondence from home or office using e-mail is essential.
The Life Changes Trustee team is a small, friendly, informal but competent team of people who help our counsellors make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of people a year.
