 Life Changes Counselling

Life Changes recognises that our clients are the foundation of our service. Our relationship with them is based on the principle of mutual respect. We aim to build on what we do well and develop our service to respond to meet changing needs.

Meet the Team

Philip Meakins
Chair

Philip is a retired GP. He has always had  a special  interest in Mental Health issues and many years ago was the first GP in the area to employ a counsellor as part of his practice team. His involvement with Life Changes came about because he wanted to improve local Mental Health provision.

Imelda Bryne / Coordinator

Imelda is coordinating services for an exciting project with Eastleigh Southern Parishes GP Network (ESPN), starting November 2022. This Pilot will see practitioners within the GP network (GPs, Mental Health Nurses, Social Prescribers) able to refer patients for counselling at their local GP centre or out of hours hub. Experienced counsellors have been recruited to deliver high quality counselling to patients in need of someone to listen to them and support them finding ways of working through or managing the issues that are troubling them. The Pilot is an opportunity to assess the demand for counselling within Primary Care, and its effectiveness in addressing problems that other services struggle with. Both partners hope to learn from the Pilot. As well as seeing measurable positive outcomes, such as a reduction in repeat GP appointments and A&E crisis presentations, we want to understand how best the different cultures of Primary Care and the voluntary charity sector can work together to deliver an effective service for patients.
