Life Changes respect and value the experience and skills of our volunteers and the contribution that every person makes to the service and to the achievement of our vision. We recognise that this comes from their commitment and accomplishments. We will therefore work together to train and develop our volunteers in ways that acknowledge and enhance their performance and individual abilities.
Life Changes was established to meet the pressing counselling need for people who might not otherwise have access to it.
Counsellors Placements
To meet this growing demand, we primarily provide supervised placements for trainee students who are undertaking degree and diploma courses in counselling. Our focus is to maintain an integrative approach to counselling, by mixing counsellors from various therapeutic modalities. In addition, we welcome volunteers from qualified counsellors who are adding to their counselling qualifications and working towards Accreditation. Significantly, our service has grown rapidly since it was founded in April 2006, and now has 30 plus counsellors who provide counselling for around 90 people per week. Find out minimum qualification/experience criteria here.
Trustees
We are also interested to hear from those who are keen to become a trustee who don't necessarily need to have experience of counselling, but should be able to support the charity during a period of exciting development. Trustees should be supportive of an integrative approach to counselling and the therapeutic benefits of talking therapies. Trustees should have broad life-experience and be willing to use their abilities to further the work of Life Changes in a variety of ways such as funding, publicity and finance and should be willing to represent the charity, in developing partnerships with statutory, commercial and the voluntary sector organisations. The commitment required is to attend six Trustee meetings a year in Southampton with the expectation that Trustees will take responsibility for particular areas of the organisation. An ability to deal with correspondence from home or office using e-mail is essential. If you would like to know more, please refer to Volunteer Trustee Advert below:
Fund Raisers

This has brought many challenges, not least financial. Our Trustees wish to develop various secondary income streams, but as novices to this sort of activity, would welcome aboard anyone with skills /experience in fund raising project both large and small. Contact us by completing the Volunteer Enquiry form below, and lets talk.
